Getting involved

You don't need to be a member of the P&C or even attend meetings to get involved in the life of the school. Whether you have only occasional time in the evenings or can donate a morning a week, there's always something you can do. Make new friends & help maintain the school's vibrant parent community.

Here are a few ideas.

Adopt a garden patch

Help care for the school's outdoor areas by managing a small patch. Could involve planting, pruning, weeding, mulching

Dully Grounds committee led by Manuella Crank P&C Secretary

Help out at a gardening bee Held once per term. BYO hat & water and weed, trim or mulch to your heart's content! Kids welcome Dates are published on the school website (P&C section) and the P&C noticeboard (near the canteen), or keep an eye on the school newsletter.

Occasional jobs ­– during school hours

Volunteer in the canteen

Any help appreciated, from once a week to once a term. Basic timing includes the following, but any variation is possible:

  • 8:30 – 9.30am: taking lunch orders
  • 9:30 – 11.00am preparing lunches
  • 11:30am – 12.30pm: sorting lunch orders and serving during lunchtime

Accompany class excursions Class excursions have strict student-to-adult ratios and a limited number parents is often needed to accompany on the day See your child's teacher or keep an eye on excursion permission notes
Volunteer to help with a daytime P&C event

These will include the Mothers' Day & Fathers' Day stalls held during Friday lunchtimes. Assistance is sought in sourcing, buying, wrapping & selling gifts on the day.

Help out in your child's classroom

Sometimes, and particularly in the younger years, teachers invite parents to help out in the classroom   Keep an eye on notes home at the beginning of the year or see your child's teacher

Help out on Grandparents' and Harmony Day (in March each year)

Assist on the day by donating food, getting food ready and serving hot beverages to grandparents  

Help out at a Community Night

A performance evening held during the last week of term on a Thursday evening 6-7:30pm showcasing class & extra curricular groups in music, drama & dance.  

Assistance sought during the day with food preparation, or service in the evening

Join a P&C sub-committee

Options include Community Club, music subcommittee, Grounds committee P&C meetings are held monthly at school on a Wednesday evening

Support garden classes

Assist with the delivery of the Edible Garden Program or Goanna Trail lessons. Up to 7 one-hour classes per term. Regular jobs – outside school hours / at any time

Become a worm farmer Feed and water worm towers and worm farms email parent Leonie McNamara at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Care for the veggie garden Targeted maintenance of particular areas as needed  
 Join holiday garden rosters  Watering the veggie garden during holidays. Harvest fresh produce to take home
